Charlie started off his birthday dinner with his first bacon. He liked it.
There were too many adorable pictures of Charlie eating cake to fit on the blog. If you have some time to kill and you want to look at more pictures of a cute kid eating cake (click here).
I baked a lemon cake with homemade mango curd filling/writing and peach (dairy free) "butter-cream"
Just a normal first birthday cake.
We gave him a moment to dig in. He was a bit timid.
He did dig right in when he got his own huge slice.
Then he really went for it.
Complete with icing in hair.
He was a happy camper.
Needless to say the shirt had to be removed.
Then some post cake pool time.
Viola and I made the crown together. I had the idea to cut out some ones from the coupons in the junk mail. Viola gave up after about twenty ones so O.C.D. me had to finish up alone.
Viola made this amazing card for Charlie. It's a wedding.
We almost forgot to open presents before bed but Viola remembered. She wrapped up some of her old books for Charlie, it was very sweet.
Then the best present of all. This handmade block set from Marci (Savannah Nanna).
They all jingle. Thanks Marci!
