Spring!

We took a walk to the library today to exchange our dinosaur books for new dinosaur books.  And along the way we saw a bit of spring color popping up.  I love crocuses for being the first color of spring.
I talked Viola into posing with the flowers.

Rough Week?

I haven't taken any pictures lately because it's been quite the sick house around here.  First Charlie had  fever for a few days, then I got some kind of bug that made me nauseous and feel like I had been run over by a bus.  Next Viola woke up in the middle of the night puking, next morning Charlie couldn't keep his milk down, then Friday night the pater familias lost it. And Charlie is cutting his two front teeth.  It was a fun Spring break.
Enjoy some photos from Viola's Lego camera...

I took this one but she came up with that pose all by herself.
Charlie drinking out of a big glass.  Needless to say it had a wet outcome.
Viola brought her camera to the Social Security office and got a picture of Ft Collins from up high.

What is this green paper all about?

I had this twenty folded up in a plastic bag with just the face of Andrew Jackson Showing,  Viola said that she wanted to see the photo in the bag.  Then I realized that she has possibly never held real money.  She found it amazing, then I tried to explain how debit cards work since that is how we spend our money.  It was a very financially educational afternoon.
Then she tried to carry it off to her room.  End of money education time.  Wait, Education continued, "that's a lot of money."

Bugs Beware!

We have quite a few spiders and the occasional ant in our bathroom.  Perhaps because we live under ground.  So Viola built this extravagant Mad-Bad Bug Trap.  So that they don't eat her blood.
An unsuspecting bug is supposed to wander into the middle of all of this excitement and then SWAK,  she squishes it.  So look out all you bugs!

Family Bike Ride

Charlie had his first ride in the bike trailer today.  It went well, with no screams from the little people.
Viola took this photo of us.  She did an excellent job.

You're a handsome fellow, How do you taste?

Charlie found himself in the mirror this morning and decided to have a lick.

The balance bike is on it's highest setting...

...and its getting a bit too small.
In the fall a dear friend of ours leaned on the handle of the balance bike and broke it off.  It sat broken in the shed all winter but now that spring is here it was time to get the bike back on the road.  Fortunately we know a guy who's pretty good with wood.  He made a new handle bar and got the bike ready to go for another season.  But what do you know, Viola has grown!  And when we went to look at bicycles with peddles she learned to ride one in the store.  It may be time for a big girl bike.
Viola wanted to take a break on this butterfly bench.

Are the Scissors in your house broken Son?

Charlie has been working on quite the mullet so we decided it was time for the first haircut.  No more party in the back for this Charlie.
Looking more and more like Papa.
I couldn't resist a photo of this little pile of blonde hair.
Looking like a real boy.  Its kind of a work in progress.  I've already noticed a few stragglers that need to be cut.

Enjoying the nice time

Viola loves to sit in the doorway and as she says "enjoy the nice time" on a beautiful day, which we are having a lot of lately.  Sometime she even takes a glass of milk up with her.
And when I get finished with the dishes, laundry, baby or whatever I have to do we go out and enjoy the back yard.
The little paleontologist has quite the dig going in the yard.

The findings: two ancient pennies, a chewed up clothes pin, red rock, and a couple of meteorites.

Self Feeding

Charlie has started to put his own food in his mouth.  Although he is much more accurate with non-food items such as dog food, rocks, plastic, and wood chips.
And for those of you who may wonder, he is an ambi-feeder (Using both hands).  We are so proud of him.

Mad about Plaid

We all wore plaid to church this morning.  Viola started it with her "cowboy" shirt, and I had already planned on putting Charlie in his plaid, then Brian put on his normal uniform of plaid button up and I felt silly wearing anything else so I dug out a plaid shirt too.  It looked like "Kirking of the tartans".
Oh yeah, Charlie is 9 months old today.

Now there's an outfit!

The Little Baker

I baked a lemon cake from this recipe (click here) for a baby shower last week and after watching the video a few times I think that Viola picked up a few tips.  She lined her "pan" with paper so that the cake wouldn't stick.  Very smart.
Then she gave her "cake" a generous squeeze of corn juice when it came out of the oven.  To make it moist.
And then she was cute.
