Stale Bread Worth Fighting For, Apparently
I bravely took Viola and Mary to the lake at the park to feed the ducks and geese some stale bread. I had to hold on to both of them really tight the whole time. I was not in the mood for a swim after Viola, Mary would have been on her own. There was one really mean goose that was biting everybody else for our bread. What a punk.

Freestyle Jazz Pianist
Ft. Collins has colorful pianos randomly placed through out the downtown. Viola really likes to take a moment to share her talent with the people.
Kitchen Hand
I'm getting a lot of help in the kitchen these days. We made pizza the other night and this one did the rolling. She took her job very seriously.
But there is always time for a smile, covered in flour.
And now I have video proof of Viola saying that she is going to do all of the dishes when she gets bigger.Friday, February 17, 2012
Camping
Viola has been begging to sleep on the floor and I being the heavy have not let her but Papa thought it sounded great fun. And after all he had already built her a tent in her room. But then she said that she needed a sleeping bag. It just so happened that we had one squirreled away for her birthday (in April) so we decided to be fun and gave it to her last night. She was soooo excited.
I couldn't resist sneaking in to flash her just one time to get a photo of the first sleeping bag floor camping experience.

Cookies are medicine too
On Saturday morning when Brian went out, on bike, to the store to get medication for my sinus infection, he saw two frozen girl scouts selling cookies out side of the grocery store, he took pity on them and purchased some of there wares. Yay, girl scout cookies.
I'm pretty sure that this was Viola's first taste of girl scout cookies.
She liked them.
By the way, my sinus infection is mostly gone, it was terrible. Thanks to my sweet husband for going out in the snow to get my meds.
Winter Wonderland
This is what we woke up to Sunday morning.
Tip: if your car doors are frozen shut its easiest to open them from the inside, the trick is that you need to be able to open one of the doors in order to get inside the car.

Papa tried to teach card house construction, Viola is more into card house destruction.
More snow today, Viola was so excited to go out and build a snow man and got on all of her special snow gear but alas, the snow was too dry and wouldn't stick in a ball, tears followed. No good pictures there.
Then for an indoor activity Papa tried to show Viola how to build a house of cards using her new alphabet cards. She really wanted to help but the motor skills just weren't ready for card construction. There was a lot of "Oops".
It was however the best use for these alphabet cards which were sent to me by mistake. I ordered some really nice vintage illustration ones and received these Paul Frank ones instead. They say things like: The cozy molars are teeth on the T card. How is that helpful for learning the letter T. Any way the seller sent me the right ones and didn't ask for these back so now we build with them.

A lovely day for the park.
This is actually from Monday but I forgot about the photos until now. We were all feeling fine so we took a walk to the park, I'm not sure why but we were the only ones there. No pesky lines for the slide or see-saw.
I'm not sure what this face was about, probably my incessant picture taking but she was actually loving it.

Here's a smile.
Then we took a walk around the lake (which is mostly frozen). It's really fun to throw snowballs on the ice and watch them scatter. Viola got really into it.Cinnamon Duck
Sorry for the lack of blogging of late, the three of us have been a bit puny with colds, stuffy noses, coughing, and sinus pressure for the past week and a half. I am the only one still super puny, its nice to see Papa and Viola feeling better.
Viola ate her cinnamon honey bread into a duck and let him go for a little swim on her plate.

So you're probably wondering about the snow.
Well last night's threatened 5-10 inches was only about 4 inches but it still gave Brian a chance to use his driveway/sidewalk shoveling skills that he learned from his youth in Virginia. However as I type (1:35 pm) it is snowing again so he might get to put his skills to work again on the morrow.
