First Ever Husband, Wife alone vacation.

Brian and I have never had an overnight trip alone since there was anyone to be alone from.  Thanks to Grandma we were able to have a quick getaway into the "wilderness".
We started our trip with a little hike up to Gem Lake in Estes Park (near Rocky Mountain National Park).

This is Gem Lake.  The reward for our climbing/hiking/sliding on icy trail labors.  It was lovely, and still quite frozen.
On to the cabin.  We stayed in the Big Thompson valley which experienced some pretty bad flooding last year.  They are still in the process of recovering but it is a beautiful spot.  Here we are with all of the rustic-ness in our little cabin.  Including "the old Buck Rug"...
...and this amazing half-wolf lamp.  We think perhaps that the designer was really good at the front half of wolves but not their hind legs so they just left them off.  It's kind of like it's very foggy?  A very nice piece of rustic furnishing.
And the best part: the VERY private hot tub.  See that truck, it's on the highway.  Thankfully they had put up that little fence so that we could feel secluded.
Good times with my sweet husband.
