On the last full free day before fall semester begins and Brian is working and studying like a mad man we loaded up the family truckster and headed to Pike's Peak.
At the ridiculously crowded gift shop at the summit they sell "World Famous Doughnuts" and we promised Viola that she could have one. It cost $3 and looked stale but she gobbled it right up as if it was a most amazing treat. The poor girl doesn't get many doughnuts.
Everyone else on top of the mountain wanted to enjoy the view.
The family standing next to the cog railroad tracks which we opted against, because it is pricey!
Guess who has a dramatic flare?
Then we took a scramble down some rocks.
Viola said that this guy was following her because she was so good at climbing on these rocks.
I think she was right.
Charlie would have liked a crack at rock scrambling but he was not given an inch of liberty to do so.
Did you guess who's the dramatic one yet?
We found a lovely mountain lake. I'm not sure the other mountaineers appreciated it.
After our descent we headed to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. Viola has been asking to go see some cliff dwellings because she has a picture of some on her door. Both kids had fallen asleep on the way down and were surprised when we got out to see these awesome structures. Viola happy surprised, Charlie not so much.
The Kiva. If you want to know what that is ask wikipedia, that's what it's there for.
Are you still trying to figure out the drama queen's identity?
The nice people who took this said that it should be our Christmas card. So, Merry Christmas.
I'm a little concerned that Brian's rear end might have ended up in some other family's vacation photos.
Yep, you guessed it. The dramatic one is...This Viola!
